Music is a valuable vehicle for individual expression, and it can play an important role in children’s personal, creative and spiritual development. Music can reflect our cultures and society, and the teaching and learning of music enables students to learn more about the world we live in. The skills and knowledge taught in our Music Curriculum allow children to not only broaden their understanding but also to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

 

Our vision/intent for Music: To develop a sense of identity and togetherness through composing, rehearsing and performing music with others. For children at SMQ to foster creativity and self-discipline, as well as appreciation for music through listening and discussion. To provide an environment in which children feel supported to express themselves and explore their own knowledge and understanding, recognising the value of music as an art form. For music at SMQ to be a vehicle to explore diversity, spirituality and support a broad, balanced curriculum.
