ELSA
At St Mary Queen of Martyrs, we recognise that children’s emotional wellbeing is fundamental to their ability to learn, achieve and thrive. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels heard, valued and supported.
Our Emotional Literacy Support provision offers targeted, short-term interventions for pupils who may be experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties.
ELSA sessions may support pupils with:
Recognising and managing emotions
Building self-esteem and confidence
Developing social skills and friendships
Managing anxiety and worries
Coping with bereavement, loss or change
Emotional regulation and problem solving
Interventions are carefully planned with clear measurable outcomes and are reviewed regularly to ensure impact. Pupil voice is central to the process; enabling children to reflect on their progress and develop strategies they can use independently.
Below are some guides that you may find useful.
ELSA complements our whole school approach to wellbeing, safeguarding and personal development. We ensure that emotional support is embedded across school life.
We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure consistent support between home and school.
